My name is Bethany Crossgrove. I graduated from high school as a homeschooler on May 24th, 2019 and from European Medical School of Massage on July 11, 2019, with education from a COMTA Accredited School with a diploma in Medical Massage Therapy.
I enjoy playing basketball, doing handstands, reading, hanging out with friends and family, and playing piano. As a massage therapist, I am excited to work one-on-one with people who are in pain, recovering from injuries or accidents, or simply needing to refresh and recharge. I want to help your physical body be restored to health, but more importantly, I want the whole person—spirit, soul, and body—to be refreshed, healed, and excited to live life.
Skills Learned:
Medical Massage Therapy: This kind of massage is used to treat clients who have musculoskeletal pain.
British Sports Massage: British Sports Therapy is a very effective modality that uses soft tissue release by compressing the muscle and stretching it. It increases blood flow and range of motion and removes stiffness surrounding the joints.
Deep Tissue Massage: Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Keep in mind that soreness is pretty common after the treatment, and that plenty of water should be ingested to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that will have been released from the deep tissue during the session.
Swedish Massage: Swedish Massage is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. It combines oils with an array of strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve its circulation. The benefits include relief from aches and pains, reduced stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, and increased flexibility.
Prenatal Massage: Pregnancy Massage is a style of bodywork designed specifically for pregnant women. Pregnancy is a time when a woman's body endures tremendous stress due to dramatic physical and emotional changes. Using various techniques specially developed for the expecting mother, Pregnancy Massage helps release the pain and discomfort experienced throughout pregnancy. The benefits are profound, including emotional support, the relief of joint pain due to extra weight and postural imbalance, and improved breathing and relaxation. I will work with my client while she lies on her side, supported with pillows for her hip and belly.
Myofascial Release or Cupping Therapy: Is used as a gentle massage focused on pulling the skin and soft tissue away from the body. This approach can help the fascia that surrounds the muscles gain more oxygen and flexibility while reducing scar tissue build-up that leads to pain and stiffness.
Sinus Drainage Treatment: Starting at the base of the neck, I gently warm up the tissue to help the lymphatic fluid flow. Then I work on the sides of the neck to continue opening up vessels, and lastly, I work on the four pairs of sinuses in the face, helping them to release clogged-up fluid.
Lymphatic Massage: Lymphatic Drainage Therapy aims to gently and rhythmically move the lymph through the body, especially swollen areas of the body, relieving pressure and enhancing the functioning of the immune system. As both a preventative and remedial technique, LD can be used for a wide range of purposes, including faster recovery from injury, reduction of swelling and discomfort from pregnancy, and strengthened resistance to illness.
Russian Massage: Uses a variety of specific techniques to release stress and enhance circulation.
Neuromuscular Therapy: This modality uses consistent pressure for 10 to 30 seconds on areas with soft tissue pain where muscle spasms exist. The goal is to increase blood flow to that specific area, relax the muscle, and, in turn, cause the lactic acid to flush out of its stagnant position.
Cryotherapy: A combination of using heat and cold on specific areas of the body to increase blood flow and reduce inflammation and pain.
